Lagardère unlimited takes over operation of Friends Arena
10 Dec 2014
As of 1 January 2015, Lagardère Unlimited will take the over operation of Friends Arena as part of an agreement that will extend over more than ten years.
The agreement was announced today by the owners of Friends Arena – the Swedish Football Association, Peab, Fabege, the City of Solna and Jernhusen – together with Lagardère Unlimited, which is also signing a long-term lease with the property company that owns Friends Arena, Arenabolaget in Solna.
Lagardère Unlimited has extensive experience of running and developing similar facilities and currently has agreements with some 20 arenas around the globe, including Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Imtech Arena in Hamburg, Groupama Arena in Budapest, Singapore Sports Hub and Arena Castelao Fortaleza in Brazil. Lagardère Unlimited’s operational expertise combined with an extensive international network of organisers were the deciding factors when the five owners made their choice. The agreement is part of the owners’ endeavour to continue focusing on their individual core expertise while being owners of Friends Arena.
“Over a period of two years, we have been laying the foundation for Friends Arena. It feels good being able to hand over operation of the arena to an international operator such as Lagardère Unlimited, which will be able to further strengthen and develop Friends Arena as a competitive events arena,” says Erik Paulsson, Chairman of Sweden Arena Management.
