Evenemangsgatan will be made into a one-way street for better access

17 Jun 2014

The changes being made in taxi traffic at Arenastaden will make it easier to access Evenemangsgatan. Per Åsbrandt, property developer at Fabege, explains more about what is currently being done to improve traffic in this city district.

From 1 June, Evenemangsgatan will become one-way street in a northbound direction.

“In the past, two-way traffic has made it difficult for both construction traffic and tenants in the area to access Evenemangsgatan. But now it will be easier for all concerned,” says Per Åsbrandt, property developer at Fabege, who works with logistics for both traffic and public in Arenastaden.

“Steady progress is also being made in respect of housing construction and work on the Mall of Scandinavia, the office building into which one of the tenants Svenska Spel is moving and the long pedestrian ramp from Evenemangsgatan by the Vattenfall building up to Stjärntorget and Målbron,” he adds.

New taxi station makes things easier

When the on-way street comes into effect, there will no longer be a taxi rank along Evenemangsgatan. Instead, taxis will depart from the newly opened taxi rank, known as “the remote,” from the north-western corner of Friends Arena.

The bus lines that currently operate on Evenemangsgatan will have partly new routes and new stops along Dalvägen.

Per Åsbrandt emphasises that the one-way street is not a final solution.

“This is what we are doing for the time being, but it will not be like this forever since we want Arenastaden to be open to all types of traffic and for pedestrians. We hope that our tenants will understand the reason for this change, which is to ensure safety and an enjoyable experience for all visitors to Arenastaden.
